Adbusters Take back your brain...please. Great writing with an activist anticonsumer culture bent. See Subvertising at work as common image campaigns are picket apart to the bone. Probably the best source of clear thinking on the topic. Learn why you feel so deeply inadequate during those Calvin Klein ads. Bring a bushwacker too. You might find the recesses of your mind worth exploring.
Lynda.com author of many of my favourite design tutorials. She has an inspirations page with some very interesting links to talented illustrators and designers....
Imagedive.com this man is a flash maven. Take a look and you'll notice that he has a great handle on motion graphics - nothing garish or obvious
Track & Field Media John Schiefer & Ryan Grote's bordello of track gossip. I am also a contributing athlete/columnist (sort of). Lots of funny bullshit...but it's the best damn funny bullshit you'll find on the track community! All imaginable legal disclaimers apply. Enjoy
Toronto Olympic Club my beloved Track Club from Toronto Ontario.
IAAF Official IAAF website for those of you who follow the scene up to date results and late breaking news from the world of track.
IOC The International Olympic Committee.
Apple Computer Oops...gave myself away. They make some nice computers though. Check out the G4 cube!
As the Apple Turns Oooohhh...another mac related site. So I'm crazy. Oh well. This site has some great computer related humour. I mostly like their sarcasm.
Adbusters Culture Jammers Headquarters Take back your brain...please. Great writing with an activist anti consumer culture bent. Probably the best source of clear thinking on the topic. Learn why you feel so deeply inadequate during those Calvin Klein ads. Bring a bushwacker too. You might find recesses of your mind worth exploring
Nanaimo Huh?! Yes. While Nanaimo is not exactly the hotbed of culture on the West Coast of Canada, it has World Championship of bathtub racing. Yes...floating race-class bathtubs across 56km (35mi) of "open" ocean. Enough said!
Well maybe not enough. The now-deceased mayor was a huge booster of the bathtub racing and he regularly presided over the affair in a pirate's costume. I believe he wore it year-round though so what do I know.
Canada.com Doh! Why, oh why has it taken so long to get even a poor excuse for a Canadian Content News Site? Free doughnuts and Molson I hear....
HyperReal Music Archive Very good source for electronic music and rave news.
Dreadzone Awesome laid back intelligent style techno with a great Caribbean flavour. Quirky and unique. Great website.
FSOL Are their own best advertisement.
Sarah McLachlan Great voice, passionate writer. Canadian artist extraordinary. Embroiled in a libel suit. Nice hair, etc.
Kate Bush Very cutting edge stuff, with a lot of classical undertones. She ranges the gamut of pastorale to eccentric. Don't ask me why I try to describe her.
Steve Roach Mmmmm Good. Very minimalist Ambient soundscapes. He a huge amount of material on CD, but so far I've been quite happy with DreamTime Return. Excellent meditative themes.
Steve Hackett Excellent classical guitar. Will soothe you to sleep. Not a coma mind you. Very competent artist with a range of playing skills. Buy all his stuff. People this good need to be very rich so they can live a loooong time.
Michael Hedges As far as I'm concerned one of the best guitarists to live ever. He died in a car crash last fall. Light a candle for him of you hear his music. My thanks go for whoever brought him into this world. He "pioneered" fingertap style guitar playing utilizing a range of tunings. Difficult to describe. Buy his music if you like solo acoustic guitar!
